My Portfolio 2018

This portfolio post was compiled in March 2018.

Pencil on A5 pad - not intended to depict anywhere in particular, this was just a speedy exercise in light and shade.

Two of my favourite shots of reflections in the rain.

Night-time traffic down by the college.

One of three sunset shots taken by the Oracle and the only one in which cars were silhouetted on the crest.

A night shot from my kitchen window.  I love the way reflected light from the snow brightens the scene.

Beautiful sunset from town.

Reflected light in the rain by Tesco in Oxford Road.

Simple drawing inspired by the stone circle at Avebury and a local office building.  I hoped that the grass would help to keep the size of the column somewhat unclear, since I do enjoy playing with perception on occasion.

One of a series entitled 'Starseed Characteristics', intended to become paintings.  The intention was to bring to mind an environment at least vaguely tropical; anywhere better than where one may be at this time.

The last of the Characteristics drawn thus far.  Many from elsewhere in the multiverse experience trouble with sleep.  The sight of the stars is bittersweet since it serves as a reminder of home.

'Walllpaper' at the Pulling Strings exhibition, in the Peacock Gallery at Maiden Erleigh School, Decembver 2017. Monoprints based on the first idea that came to mind on seeing the wallpaper sample. The type over the spirit figure is too small to see but reads 'There was someone here... and then there wasn't.'

'Staircase to the Lost City.  The first of an intended series.

My first attempt for a while at watercolour.  Hoping to do more of this and improve.

Two shells and two twigs - speedy still life.

My pencil sharpener.

Vinegar tastes yummy when it's been filtered through chips and mixed with the potato starch.

A spot of monoprinting - I was running out of space, hence the strange lettering.

A pattern that was taken as far as it could go and became increasingly irregular.

Light and shadow in the stairwell at home.

A colourful drawing and a simple felt piece.

From the same series as the stairwell, the second childhood home that I can remember, with a ghost which I never saw.

Drawn at the Museum of English Rural Life, I could see no sign identifying this machine.

Drawn at the same location, a paint mill.

A couple of my favourite sunsets, with the then-new catenary at Reading Station providing some interesting silhouettes.

Maroo (Spirit Guide from Zeta Reticuli).

Some paintings on a space theme, all acrylic on canvas.
